Corporate Social Responsibility
James Halstead has always been industry leading with regards its products and sustainability. We have harvested rainwater for production since 1915 and have been recycling vinyl since 1950. Our investment in sustainability initiatives has continue, particularly with our ongoing commitments to uor recycling scheme, Recofloor, which is widely regarded as an exemplary model. Co-founded by Polyflor in 2009, Recoflor continues to reduce the environmental impact of the vinly flooring industry –something we are proud of.
The business remains committed to continual improvement with sustainability at the heart of our operations.
Key steps to achieving a more sustainable future
Recycling via our Recofloor scheme
The flooring industry is not bound by law to recycle waste, but Polyflor is actively seeking to recover and recycle its post consumer waste vinyl flooring to minimise the flooring industry’s environmental impact and close the loop of our products’ life cycles.
As a founding and funding member of Recofloor, Polyflor has helped develop the scheme into the success that it is today — supporting financially; driving the scheme through sales and marketing, as well as logistically supporting with collections, sorting and ultimately recycling.

Training & development
Polyflor, the UK’s leading commercial vinyl flooring manufacturer has an established training academy that delivers courses all year round. With a newly refurbished, purpose-built facility, it’s now even easier to access high quality training.
Our 7 step life cycle
We examine the environmental impact of all our products throughout its entire lifespan, from raw material extraction (cradle) to disposal or recycling (grave). To find out more about our approach to ESG policies you can access our annual Sustainability Report.
